Audu: APC Leaders Gather In Abuja

Following the death of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kogi state Abubakar Audu, the leaders of the party are gathering in Abuja on November 24, Tuesday.
The Punch reports that the aim of the meeting is to consider the way out of the legal deadlock caused by the death of Audu.
The members of the party’s National Working Committee and other national leaders are expected to attend the meeting.
One of the decisions of the body may be to officially write to the Independent National Electoral Commission informing the commission about the death of the Kogi governorship aspirant.
APC leader said that legal officer of the party and other senior lawyers will advise the party on the alternative to the late Kogi politician and the decision of INEC to announce the poll inconclusive.
“What I can tell you is that we are meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) and the secretary may be directed to write INEC informing it about the death of Audu,” he stated.
“We will be waiting for the commission’s response, but on our own, we will invite some senior lawyers for advice on the issue.”
The INEC, meanwhile, promised to apply available legal provisions to last Saturday’s governorship election in Kogi state.
Abubakar Audu, who died on November 22, Sunday, was buried yesterday in his home town amid tears of his supporters.
